EPSE and Valhalla Capital Partners Launch Joint Venture for Sustainable Water Treatment in Africa

EPSE has signed a Joint Venture Agreement with Valhalla Capital Partners, a leading South African investment firm. The collaboration, set to begin operations on 1 October 2024, will introduce EPSE’s advanced water recycling technology, the EPSE™ Method, to key industries in Africa, particularly mining. The agreement was signed by Jouni Jääskeläinen, CEO of EPSE, and Lesibana Fosu, CEO of Valhalla Capital Partners.

Transforming Africa’s Water Sustainability Landscape

The joint venture aims to tackle Africa’s growing water scarcity challenges, heightened by climate change and industrial expansion. With mining industries across Zambia, the DRC, and other regions facing rising demand for sustainable water management, the EPSE™ Method offers a breakthrough solution. This metal-removal technology allows for efficient water recycling, enabling industries to significantly reduce wastewater pollution and improve resource efficiency.

A Collaborative Effort with Global Partners

Valhalla Capital Partners will provide the financing for the venture, while EPSE will deliver its innovative technology and expertise. The partnership also involves Johannesburg-based Prosep Chemicals and Texas-based Titan Resources, further strengthening the initiative’s global reach. Initial projects will involve processing water samples from African mines at EPSE’s Finland laboratory, with implementation plans already underway.

Local Impact and Long-Term Vision

The long-term goal of the joint venture is to establish local operations and train local talent to manage the technology. This ensures that the benefits of the EPSE™ Method are retained within Africa, creating jobs and fostering sustainable industrial practices. “Our aim is to empower local communities through technology transfer and capacity-building initiatives,” said Jouni Jääskeläinen.

By focusing on local partnerships and long-term sustainability, this joint venture has the potential to revolutionize water management across Africa’s industrial landscape.
