Connections Corner: Steve Evans, CEO of Prosep Chemicals

Today in Connections Corner, we’re introducing  Steve Evans, one of the founding members of the EPSE Africa Joint Venture. Evans is currently the CEO of Prosep Chemicals in South Africa.

In the beginning of his career, Evans was an extractive metallurgist, working in Goldfields of South Africa with mining applications with gold, sulphuric acid, uranium, coal, tin, and base metals. After that he gained experience in companies such as Multotec, Anikem and Pall South Africa, where he mainly focused on selling and marketing of process equipment and solutions for mining and water industries, but also for other industries.

With this background, he took on Prosep Chemicals, a company that focuses on water treatment primarily in industry with applications in e.g., boiler, colling, sewage and effluent water treatment, water recycle, sterilization, rainwater harvesting, factory feed water and water discharge compliance. Through Prosep Synergy, which is part of the Prosep Group, water treatment plants are designed, built, installed, operated and delivered for all applications. South Africa Clean Water (SACW), another entity within Prosep Group, focuses on e-commerce through the platforms like Takealot, Amazon, One Day Only and Prosep’s own platform. Currently, Evans is very closely involved in steering the business of Prosep Chemicals and working to ensure that the objectives are met, bringing in new business opportunities so that the business can grow in the long term. Evans also sees his role as securing the development and growth of employees for the future of the business.

Having a wealth of experience in water recycling and mineral processes, Evans is perfectly placed to understand the suitability and application of EPSE in both the mining and industrial markets. According to Evans, the positive impact on the environment of EPSE technology is massive and globally people are becoming more aware of the importance of protecting our planet. EPSE technology has a real fit at the perfect time when the world needs it, and that’s why he was keen on joining the JV EPSE Africa.

Evans believes it is important that the use of EPSE contributes positively to the prevention of environmental pollution worldwide in areas where pollution has had a major negative impact on people’s lives. Improving water reuse is another important issue that not only minimizes the use of unpolluted water, but also has a significant impact on the lives of people living in water-poor areas, on the profitability of industry and facilitates their social and environmental responsibility. The goals for EPSE Africa JV are using EPSE to target a complete water solution to maximize water security in industry in Africa, resulting in a win-win for industry, communities and EPSE. Ultimately, EPSE will become a global best practice in the treatment of metal contaminated water, enabling industry to thrive without compromising communities.
