Steve Evans, COO of EPSE Technology Inc., EPSE’s long-term partner and contact person for Africa, visited Finland in July 2025. Although remote meetings, online communication, and phone calls are commonplace, convenient, and practical today, nothing beats face-to-face interaction and time spent together when it comes to building relationships and learning from one another!
Evans had never visited Finland before, so the visit was eagerly anticipated and included not only work but also many leisure activities in Tampere and Helsinki. Evans’ program included visiting EPSE laboratory and learning about the EPSE™ Method together with the laboratory staff. One part of Evans’ program was a demo run on the SCOPE equipment. As the equipment is built and designed by EPSE in Finland, Evans was eager to see it in action.
“With SCOPE equipment, we can simulate continuous processing with smaller volumes and obtain the necessary repetitions of the process. This allows us to better convince all parties that the result is not a fluke but a reliable, repeatable solution”, Evans says. “I would also like to see more process variations with SCOPE equipment. This requires larger sample sizes, but we want to achieve continuity and repeatable tests that ensure the reliability and credibility of the results”, he summarizes.
Evan points out that the smaller-scale equipment can also be taken to the client’s premises, and testing can be carried out there, in the presence and under the supervision of the client. This allows for a wide range of tests to be carried out in a short period of time and, if necessary, repetitions using the same process.
Evans also conducted various tests conversations in the laboratory together with laboratory staff and engaged the team in conversations about different applications and solutions for different needs. After work, Evans got to enjoy Finnish nature, local restaurants, and lake scenery from a boat. EPSE CEO Jouni Jääskeläinen also took Evans to the Pereensaari sauna in Pirkkala, and the experience was memorable for Evans, who was particularly impressed by the cold pool and the lake scenery, which are not to be found in South Africa.
