This year’s theme for World Water Day is the water and sanitation crisis. EPSE treats industrial wastewater and enables water recycling in industrial plants. This saves virgin raw materials and is particularly important in areas where water is already scarce. In addition, treated water is cleaner, making it possible to discharge the water without polluting the environments.
The water crisis, according to the UN Water Day materials, refers to the fact that there is a shortage of clean water, meaning not enough water for everyone. At present, we are lagging far behind in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 (water and sanitation for all by 2030). Billions of people and countless schools, businesses, health centres, farms and factories do not have the clean water or toilets they need.
So how can we make a difference? At EPSE, we are working to raise awareness of our method and aim for it to replace other methods at some point in those areas where it is applicable. We also develop our method and service continuously. As individuals, we can all make a difference: just talking about water, its scarcity and uneven distribution will help. But we need to move from words to action, saving water, working to prevent pollution of habitats and bringing other ways of tackling climate change and the water crisis into our daily lives.
Moreover, in the run-up to the elections, we Finns can also support, through our political decisions, sensibly prioritized climate objectives, industrial competitiveness and thus industry’s capacity to invest in new, cleaner and better methods.
The World Water Day theme page encourages you to be the change you want to see in the world. Here you can see what people around the globe are doing to correct our course and make clean water for all possible.
