Background:
In January this year, representatives of the Agency of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan and JSC Almalyk MMC together with Nordic University in Tashkent discussed with the Finnish EPSE Oy (Ltd.) about issues of wastewater treatment of mining and metallurgical industry in the Republic of Uzbekistan. As a result of the negotiations, samples of wastewater from AGMK’s smelter and zinc plant were sent to EPSE for laboratory tests. After laboratory tests using a new chemical reagent, the content of soluble metals and other elements in water samples were significantly reduced.
